artist: sampaloo Sampaloo means discpline, honesty, and loyalty. Sampaloo is originally from Kingston, Jamaica, educated in St Elizabeth Technial High and a fromer professional athlete. He thought running would be his life long career but changed plans after getting involved in a farm work aid program, which brought him to Canada. His direction in life took a different turn upon his arrival when he developed a passionate interest in music, taking cues from artists like Josey Whale, Charlie Chaplin, Ninja Man, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man and Buju.
Sampaloo describes his music as hardcore dancehall reggae. He address issues such as black on black crime and violence, family and encouraging youths to stay in school. Sampaloo opened for such prominent reggae artists like Sean Paul, Anthony B, Glen Washington, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Sizzla just to name a few. Sampaloo has also performed in many major international reggae festivals in Canada, and was also nominated for a Canadian Reggae Music Award for his song Immigration, addressing the struggles he encountered in Canada.
